The Soulmate Equation Review

The Soulmate Equation

Author: Christina Lauren
Pages :360
Date of publication : May 18th, 2021

Synopsis :Single mom Jess Davis is a data and statistics wizard, but no amount of number crunching can convince her to step back into the dating world. After all, her father was never around, her hard-partying mother disappeared when she was six, and her ex decided he wasn’t “father material” before her daughter was even born. Jess holds her loved ones close but working constantly to stay afloat is hard...and lonely.

But then Jess hears about GeneticAlly, a buzzy new DNA-based matchmaking company that’s predicted to change dating forever. Finding a soulmate through DNA? The reliability of numbers: This Jess understands.

At least she thought she did, until her test shows an unheard-of 98 percent compatibility with another subject in the database: GeneticAlly’s founder, Dr. River Peña. This is one number she can’t wrap her head around, because she already knows Dr. Peña. The stuck-up, stubborn man is without a doubt not her soulmate. But GeneticAlly has a proposition: Get ‘to know him and we’ll pay you. Jess—who is barely making ends meet—is in no position to turn it down, despite her skepticism about the project and her dislike for River. As the pair are dragged from one event to the next as the “Diamond” pairing that could launch GeneticAlly’s valuation sky-high, Jess begins to realize that there might be more to the scientist—and the science behind a soulmate—than she thought.

Review: First I always loved Christina Lauren's books. Is it weird that I only learned not long ago (on Tiktok) that they were two authors behind that pen name! So I guess I should say I always loved their works. If I want a funny and feel good romcom I know they won't disappoint me.

I love math, sciences and numbers so of course a dating app based on DNA and sciences was appealing to me! I wasn't disappointed. I don't really with which character to start because I loved all of them! This books is about romance but also about friendship, family, single mom raising a young child...

The friendship between Jess and Fizzy is perfect! I also want a friend like her because she is so funny and so supportive. The dynamic between the two of them is so good! And don't get me started about Juno... I love that child!.Their scene together were so enjoyable and put a smile on my face everytime. The mother-daughter relationship is on point. Jess can also count on her grandparents Nana Jo and Pops. I would love to read a chapters or two just about them. Maybe they could write a book about them... I would read it for sure!

Usually I don't like a slow pace romance but in this book it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I like the grumpy/sunshine vibe they were giving. I didn't like River that much at the beginning but I learn to like him! I have to admit that I wanted to yelled at him for some of things he did or didn't do.

Overall I enjoyed it just like I thought I would. I could easily read it again if I want a light fun book. The Next book from them on my TBR list is probably The Unhoneymooners.
